This is just to let you know how grateful I am to all of you who signed or agreed to display on their premises the ‘I’m Backing the Lister’ petition, which supports the consolidation of local acute trauma services in Stevenage, and to let you how the campaign went.
I am pleased to say that my office collected almost 14,000 signatures and my campaign partner, The Comet newspaper, collected another 12,000. So, thanks to your efforts, we were able to present a petition with 26,000 signatures to the Hertfordshire Primary Care Trusts on October 1st. Although it is far too early to say, I hope that this helps to persuade them that local trauma services in this quadrant of the County should be consolidated at the Lister Hospital.
