Barbara Follett joined representatives from Help the Aged at the local launch of its national Benefits Advice Project. This was set up in 1999 and has since helped older people on low incomes or in poor health get access to over £10million in benefits entitlements.

Barbara Follett is backing the Warm Homes Campaign. This national campaign aims to cut the number of unnecessary winter deaths and reduce cold-related illnesses by raising awareness of the help available to people who cannot afford to heat their homes in winter.

Barbara Follett joined representatives from Stevenage Borough Council, Hertfordshire Constabulary; the Probation Service, Hertfordshire County Council; local medical services and women’s services at a balloon release in the town centre to mark the end of Domestic Violence Week.

Valley Way Cadet Centre Bullet New Valley Way Cadet Centre opens

Barbara Follett attended the official opening of the refurbished Army Cadet Centre in Valley Way in Stevenage on Saturday 13th October. The facility has just undergone a £200,000 refurbishment, bringing together the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and the Air Training Corp (ATC) under one roof.

Well, it did at one school on Friday 21st September as Barbara Follett awarded prizes to pupils at Knebworth Primary School who took part in her annual  "Design a Christmas Card" competition. The overall winner was 4-year-old Amelia

Barbara Follett has pledged to help an estimated 10,000 constituents to tackle tinnitus – the medical term for noises inside the ears or head – after experiencing it firsthand at the Labour Party Conference.

Barbara Follett has presented the Hertfordshire Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) with more than 13,000 signatures in support of consolidating acute care services at Stevenage’s Lister Hospital. This was the culmination of more than four months of hard campaigning by Ms Follett, in partnership with the local Labour Party, Stevenage Borough Council, The Comet newspaper and MPs from surrounding constituencies.
