Custard hits the headlines!
Barbara’s Follett’s nine year old yellow Labrador, Custard, will be hoping for a landslide victory when she enters the Westminster Dog of the Year competition on Thursday 25th October.
When asked why she should win the coveted title of Westminster Dog of the Year Custard said;
“I lead a very interesting life and commute between my mistress’s constituency of Stevenage and London. I try to keep her husband fit by insisting that he takes me on a long walk every day, and I also spend a lot of time with my mistress’s grandchildren. I know I play an important role in Barbara’s life because she tells me so, in fact, she often says that I am what keeps her sane!”
The Westminster Dog of The Year competition, organised by Dogs Trust and the Kennel Club, aims to highlight the unique relationship between man and dog, while promoting responsible dog ownership. The competition is open to all parliamentarians’ pooches, regardless of breed, creed or pawlitical persuasion.
The final takes place at 10.30am on Thursday 25th October at Victoria Tower Gardens, next to the House of Lords.
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, caring for over 15,000 stray and abandoned dogs each year. We are working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
The primary objective of the Kennel Club is to promote, in every way, the general improvement of dogs and furthermore to protect and promote the dog's varied roles in society.
