Empowering Women!
Stevenage MP, Barbara Follett, presented certificates to a group of women who have just completed the Community Leadership programme and had a roundtable discussion with them at North Herts College on Saturday 8th September.
Mrs Follett said, “All of the women I met are new to community work but I was incredibly impressed with their communication skills and their drive to help others in their local communities”.
Background:
The Community Leadership programme is funded by the Hertfordshire Investing in Communities Programme which, in turn, is funded by the East of England Development Agency.
The project aims to work with disadvantaged communities and groups and has mostly targeted women and BME groups in Stevenage.
The project works with them to try and build their confidence and skills with a view to either undertaking community work or getting confidence to go back into work or start some training.
