Support for Stevenage Farepak victims
14 November 2006
Barbara Follett is donating a day’s salary to the Farepak Response Fund, an independent charity set up to help the victims of the collapse of the Christmas Hamper Scheme. Mrs Follett is also giving a day’s salary to the Stevenage-based children’s charity Libra, which lost £500 worth of Christmas savings when Farepak closed suddenly.

Christmas comes early to Longmeadow School

Fighting for the Lister

Barbara Follett has vowed to fight any plan to close Lister Hospital and has threatened to camp outside the health secretary's office with a placard and a Thermos if she has to. Stevenage MP Barbara Follett said: "I do not believe that closure of the Lister is a serious option. But, if it is, they will have to do it over my dead body."
Wear it Pink!

Barbara Follett is encouraging her constituents to ‘wear it pink’ to support the Breast Cancer Campaign as part of breast cancer awareness month. She is also encouraging all Stevenage women aged fifty and above to attend regular breast screening.

Playground whispers

Barbara Follett inaugurated the new playground equipment at the Lonsdale School in Pin Green in a loud whisper – using whispering dishes that form part of the new equipment which the school, that specializes in the teaching of children with physical and neurological impairments, has installed.

Barbara Follett MP opened Stevenage Haven’s new counselling summer house on Friday 9th June. The “Counsel House” will be used by the residents of Chris Foster House, the Haven's Emergency Single Homeless Hostel.

Twin towns

On Monday 6th February I met with a delegation from the town of Shimkent in Kazakhstan. Shimkent is one of the four towns twinned with Stevenage. The link was established in 1990.
