History comes alive at the Stevenage Museum

Stevenage MP, Barbara Follett, joined the town’s Mayor, Councillor Simon Speller, last Friday to open the newly refurbished New Town Galleries at Stevenage Museum.

The new permanent collection tells the story of Stevenage from 1946 to the present day. It forms a part of the huge celebrations taking part all over the town to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the first-ever post-war new town.

Mrs Follett said, “I really enjoyed my visit to the Museum. The displays are great and give a real sense of the history of Stevenage. There is a lot on offer, especially for young people, who can even put on a pinny and explore a 1950s kitchen! I hope that as many people as possible will visit the museum and see for themselves how Stevenage has changed through the years.”
