Urging veterans to claim their lapel badges

Barbara Follett MP attended the Remembrance Day service in Stevenage Old Town on Sunday 13th November. After laying a wreath, Mrs Follett spent time talking to veterans, some of whom were attending their 60th Remembrance Day parade.

Mrs Follett told them about the Veterans Badge that the government had produced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War Two. The badge, which is designed to be worn with civilian dress, is available free to all armed forces personnel and civilians who served in the First or Second World Wars.  War Widows and Widowers who receive a War Widow’s or Widower’s pension are also entitled to one.

Mrs Follett said “I urge all those who qualify to apply for their Veterans Badge and wear it with pride. It is more important than ever before to remember those who gave their tomorrows for our today”.

Applications for a badge should be made to the Veterans Agency. It can be contacted free on 0800 169 22 77. Badge Application forms can also be downloaded from: http://www.veteransagency.mod.uk/vets_badge/application_form.pdf
