Snakes alive!
Barbara Follett took a walk on the wild side on Monday 27th June 2005 when she visited the Dolly Mixtures Pre-School Playgroup at Great Ashby Community Centre.
To celebrate National Sure Start Month, Dolly Mixtures invited a children’s entertainer with a difference to their morning playgroup. The entertainer brought a selection of animals with him for the children to meet including a snake and an iguana. Mrs Follett and some of the children were brave enough to hold the snake – under the watchful eye of its owner, of course.
Sure Start is a Government programme which aims to achieve better outcomes for children, parents and communities by increasing the availability of childcare, improving health and emotional development for young children and supporting parents as parents and in their aspirations towards employment.
After escaping from the snake, Mrs Follett said “The children were far braver than I. The Dolly Mixtures Playgroup and Sure Start are doing sterling work in Great Ashby”.
