Run for the Children

The third annual “Run for the Children” race at Fairlands Valley Park was started by Barbara Follett MP on Sunday 12th June 2005.

Mrs Follett is Patron of “Run for the Children” – a national programme aiming to make Britain fitter by having a fitness programme in every local authority in the country and to involve more than 1,000,000 participants a year.

The 3 kilometre race around Fairlands Valley Park was completed by a mixture of runners of all ages and levels.  “Run the children” especially encourages parents and children to take part together.

All participants in “Run for the Children” are invited to raise some money for “Children with Leukaemia” – the leading charity dedicated exclusively to the research and treatment of childhood leukaemia.

Mrs Follett said “I have been involved in “Run for the Children” for three years and always enjoy being asked to start the race.  It is great to see so many families taking part together".
