Minister for Science and Innovation visits Stevenage

The Minister for Science and Innovation, Lord Sainsbury of Turville, visited Stevenage on Friday 5th November and was the main speaker at a Business Breakfast hosted by local MP Barbara Follett at Knebworth Barns.

Lord Sainsbury met local business people and discussed what steps the government is taking to encourage businesses in Britain to develop and use technology. Other speakers at the Breakfast included Richard Ellis, Chair of the East of England Development Agency, Dr Mike Healey, Director of Earth Observation and Navigation at EADS Astrium, Guy Griffiths from MBDA and Marie Freeman and Siobhan Eckershall from Hertfordshire Carers.

Lord Sainsbury stressed that we need more students to study and pursue science as a career so that Britain can continue to lead the world in innovation.

Mrs Follett said “It is good to have Ministers of the calibre of Lord Sainsbury taking an interest in our town and its future”.
