Early Christmas cheer for threatened school

With local shops already full of Christmas goodies and decorations, it will be no surprise to anyone that Stevenage MP Barbara Follett has already chosen the winner of her annual “Design a Christmas Card” competition.

This year the competition was held at Shephall Green Infant School.  After going through a huge bundle of entries, Mrs Follett visited the school on Friday 24th September to present the overall winner, Jordan Wilday, with his prize.  Jordan, who is four years old, was very pleased with the £100 worth of book tokens that his design, “Birdie Present”, won him.

Shephall Green in one of the four schools in the south of Stevenage being threatened with closure by Hertfordshire County Council.  It is a high achieving school, with a caring and supportive atmosphere.

Mrs Follett said “I am glad that this year’s Christmas Card Competition school happened to be Shephall Green.  It gave me a chance to see the quality of work that this very good school produces.  I will continue to do all I can to fight the closure proposals”.
