Support for victims of crime
Barbara Follett MP pledged her support to victims of crime on Friday 25th June when she met with Sue Dunkley, Branch Manager of Victim Support Hertfordshire.
Victim Support is a charity dedicated to helping people identify and overcome the impact of crime on them by providing free, confidential, emotional and practical help. Over the past year, 1,700 people in the Stevenage area have benefited from Victim Support’s services.
Volunteers are the backbone of Victim Support and more are desperately needed. Ms Dunkley says that “Victim Support welcomes volunteers from all sections of the community. Full training is provided as well as out of pocket expenses. Working with victims of crime can help develop skills and qualities which will be useful in other areas of life”.
Mrs Follett said “This is a very worthwhile and fulfilling role. I do hope that as many people as possible volunteer”.
If you have 2 to 3 hours to spare each week and would like to make a difference to someone else’s life, please contact Sue on 01992 504137.
