Stevenage school gets double boost

Last Friday, Stevenage MP Barbara Follett opened Burydale Junior School’s new ICT suite and helped teachers, governors and pupils celebrate rising standards within the school.

The ICT suite cost £35,000 to build, £7,000 of which was personally donated by the Head, Larraine Hodgson.  Ms Hodgson’s generous donation was in memory of her parents, who were very proud of her achievements in teaching.  The suite will be called the Langford Suite, after the name of the street in which her parents lived.

The school has recently received confirmation from Ofsted that they are being elevated out of “Special Measures” status.  The staff have worked very hard to raise standards in Maths, English, Science, teaching standards and school leadership.

Mrs Follett said “Burydale has come through a difficult time with flying colours”.
