MP attends World's Biggest Coffee Morning

Stevenage MP Barbara Follett pledged her support for Macmillan Cancer Relief when she attended a coffee morning at LA Fitness on Friday 26th September.

LA Fitness hosted one of many coffee mornings as part of Macmillan Cancer Relief’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”. Workplaces, homes, school and community groups across the country held coffee mornings from which all the money raised was donated to Macmillan Cancer Relief. The initiative is in its 13th year and has so far raised more than £20 million.

Each day, 732 people in the UK are told they have cancer. Macmillan Cancer Relief gives support to these people by providing nurses, doctors, health and social care workers who specialise in cancer care and support. They also provide dedicated cancer buildings for treatment and care, an information service and grants for patients in financial difficulties.

Local radio station, Hertbeat FM, had a cake specially baked and iced for the occasion.

Mrs Follett said “It was a great idea and a great Victoria sponge!”
