Day of Fun for those who care

Stevenage MP Barbara Follett attended the Stevenage Young Carers Annual Fun Day on Saturday 6th September at The Crown Pub, Aston End.

Stevenage Young Carers is a voluntary organisation which offers support to local children who care for a disabled or sick parent. They hold monthly group outings to a show, theme park, sports event etc and offer one to one befriending for most of their group of carers. The befriending involves an adult volunteer taking the young carer out for a fun time of their choice about once a month.

The Fun Day was organised to encourage the children to have fun, away from their caring responsibilities.

Mrs Follett said “The Stevenage Young Carers are an example to us all. They deserve all the help we can give them”.
