St Michael's children 'astute, challenging'

Children at St Michael's School in Woolmer Green were given a chance to question Stevenage MP Barbara Follett on Friday 16th May.

Mrs Follett spoke to about 40 children about her seven years as an MP. The children were given the opportunity to ask Mrs Follett questions about the work she does in Parliament and the Constituency.

Mrs Follett said "The questions the children asked were remarkably grown-up and astute. One boy asked me if I agreed with the Prime Minister over going to war with Iraq. Another asked me what the worst thing was about being an MP and one of the girls asked me to list the things I had achieved in the last few years.

"However, the best thing was that, unlike a lot of grown-ups, they listened to the answers. I found them far more challenging that the adults on BBC Radio 4's 'Any Questions' programme".
