Greenside School launches website
Stevenage MP Barbara Follett visited Greenside School in Shephall Green on Friday 28th March to help them launch their new website.
Greenside Trust, the school’s registered charity, focuses on the support of pupils who attend the school. Greenside School is for children aged 2 to 19 who have been diagnosed with severe learning difficulties.
In January 2003 the Trust launched its first major appeal to raise funds to supply the children with facilities that will make a difference to their pace and quality of independent life skills, academic learning and communication. They aim to raise £250,000 over the next two years. Forthcoming fundraising events include a 10,000 feet freefall parachute jump and a sponsored whitewater rafting adventure.
At a special assembly on Friday, Dave Victor, the Headteacher, explained how important the website is to the Trust and school. The youngest and oldest student jointly pressed a special "switch", with Mrs Follett’s help, which activated an electronic white board and displayed the live website.
Mrs Follett said "The pupils, staff, governors and friends of Greenside School put an enormous amount of effort into getting the website up and running. I am very pleased and proud to have been asked to launch it".
