Supporting victims
Stevenage MP Barbara Follett gave her support to a one-day Conference organised by the National Association of Victim Support Schemes at the University of Hertfordshire on Saturday 15 March.
The theme of the Conference was "Difference Matters". Delegates attended workshops on subjects such as homophobia, racial harassment, domestic violence and disability.
Mrs Follett spoke about "Central Government’s Perspective on Victims and Witnesses". Other speakers included President of the Group, The Hon Richard Pleydell-Bouverie DL and Chair of Trustees, Terry Mansfield CBE.
Terry Mansfield CBE said "My job is to make the National Association of Victim Support Schemes more visible to the public during my three year period of office. Everyone has something special to say, if we only listen".
Mrs Follett said "Victim Support is a truly admirable organisation and its dedicated volunteers deserve medals for the work they do".
