Resourcing the Women's Centre

A campaign to raise £20,000 a year over the next three years for the Stevenage and North Herts Women's Resource Centre was launched by Barbara Follett MP on Saturday 8th March.

At an event to mark International Women's Day, the Centre announced that it is hoping to get twenty local companies to commit to a £1,000 donation each for three years to support their work.

The Centre, which has been open for seven years, offers a wide range of free services including counseling, legal advice, drop-in sessions and a free crËche. Last year, over 4,000 women benefited from these and other services.

Centre Manager, Carol Bush said "Although the work we do is with women, it impacts on the community at large. It is a well known fact that if women are okay then those around them will be".

Mrs Follett said "The work done by the Centre is invaluable. It deserves all the support it can get".
