Launch of The Stevenage Compact
Stevenage MP Barbara Follett attended the launch of The Stevenage Compact on Friday 28th February.
The Stevenage Compact is an agreement between local government, the voluntary and community sector and other local public bodies to improve their relationship for mutual advantage.
The Compact will help understand and value the roles, nature and contribution of different kinds of organisations; has undertakings on both sides and mechanisms to make sure it works; sets standards for communication, consultation and support and provides a practical tool to help the partners work together in formal partnerships and on the ground.
Stevenage has a thriving and diverse Voluntary Sector which has developed with the active support of the local authority and other agencies. The Stevenage Compact has been formally approved by Stevenage Borough Council and endorsed by Hertfordshire County Council and Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust.
Representatives from the organisations present, including Stevenage CVS, Stevenage World Forum, Home-Start Stevenage and Stevenage Neighbourhood Watch Forum, signed a declaration of support for the Compact.
Mrs Follett said "It is great to see such joined-up working at the local level".
