MP visits re-vamped Stevenage store
Stevenage MP Barbara Follett visited Sainsbury’s store in Magpie Crescent on Friday 14th February 2003.
The store was refurbished in 2002 and now boasts a greater range of choice of products including meat and bakery counters, a salad bar, a range of children’s clothing, electrical goods and a pharmacy.
They currently employ 67 full-time and 247 part-time employees, many of which are working mothers who benefit from the flexible working hours available.
Store Manager, David Bridger said "We have a great history with the people of Stevenage. With exciting improvements to the store, we hope to offer more choice of our quality products to the community of Stevenage".
Mrs Follett said "Retail plays a very important role in Stevenage’s economy. I am glad that Sainsbury’s is showing increased commitment to our town".
