Hope + – Living with HIV/AIDS
Stevenage MP Barbara Follett attended an event – Hope + – on Saturday 7th December aimed at raising awareness of HIV and AIDS both in this country and in Africa.
The event, held at the Community Centre, All Saints Church in Vardon Road, featured a performance from the Benedictine choir from KwaZulu, Natal, South Africa. The choir raise awareness of HIV and AIDS through song and dance.
Speakers included Alick Nyirenda, Executive Director of the Copperbelt Health Education project in Zambia; Ruth Bell, a medical student at St Francis Hospital in Zambia; Rev Dr Anne Bailey, a well-known speaker on AIDS in Africa; Rev Richard Watson from Positive Touch, a group which leads the HIV/AIDS work in the St Albans Diocese and Tim Weeks of Herts AIDS. The event was chaired by The Venerable Malcolm Lesiter, Archdeacon of Bedford.
Mrs Follett said "This was a truly inspirational meeting."
