Open Day at Bowes Lyon House

Stevenage MP Barbara Follett saw Bowes Lyon House in action on Saturday 8th June when she attended their Open Day. This was held to show the young people of the area what services and activities the centre offers.

One vital service is the free and confidential information and counselling service called Face 2 Face. This is open to all young people between 14 and 25 years of age and deals with things like contraception, pregnancy, drugs, alcohol, smoking, work, money, eating disorders and sexual health. Worryingly, Face 2 Face find that the majority of young people who contact them are having problems because of family breakdown.

The centre also runs a "Young Mums" club and a huge variety of sport of musical activities. They can be contacted on (01438) 219400. Face 2 Face can be contacted directly on (01438) 749147.
Mrs Follett said "Bowes Lyon House is an invaluable community asset. I am looking forward to the day when they get the money they need to refurbish and update their premises."
