Breathe Easy Club

Stevenage MP Barbara Follett visited the Post Graduate Medical Centre at Lister Hospital on Monday (25 March) to meet with members of the North Herts Breathe Easy Club at their Branch Meeting.

The Breathe Easy Club is an off-shoot of the British Lung Foundation. The aim of the club is to support fellow patients and exchange information about lung conditions. There are 120 Breathe Easy Clubs across the UK. The North Herts Branch has nearly 100 members, meets once a month and has raised over £200k for research into lung conditions.

On average, one member of every family – 8 million people worldwide – has a lung condtion. Lung disease is the biggest killer in the UK and amongst women, lung cancer has overtaken breast cancer as the biggest killer.

After meeting with members of the Club, Mrs Follett said "It is most encouraging to see people taking such a pro-active approach to their problems. I think they are a great group of very courageous people."
