PM recognises Stevenage business talent

Gordon Brown today welcomed one of Stevenage’s business success stories, Jasmin Gupta, to an event at 10 Downing Street celebrating Britain’s local entrepreneurs. Stevenage MP Barbara Follett invited Ms Gupta, director of The Caring Hair Boutique and Cancer Hair Care, to the reception in recognition of her company’s contribution to the town’s economy and health.

The reception was held following the launch of the Government’s enterprise strategy and gave the Prime Minister the opportunity to hear first-hand about the challenges and successes experienced by local businesses.

Mrs Follett said, “Jasmin Gupta is a fantastic role model, especially for women and young people. She had the courage and drive to turn her ‘profit with principles’ business idea into reality and because of this Stevenage will have one of the few hair salons in the country that provides specialist care for cancer patients.”

Ms Gupta said, “To be invited to Number 10 to meet the Prime Minister in person was a wonderful acknowledgment for the hairdressing industry. It was an unexpected pleasure and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.”
