Barbara Follett MP opens 50th Stevenage Day
Barbara Follett MP opened Stevenage Day, the town’s biggest social occasion, on Sunday 8th June. This year marked the 50th annual Stevenage Day and an estimated 30,000 people took advantage of the glorious sunshine to enjoy the many stalls, games and rides on offer.
Opening the event at the King George V Playing Fields, Ms Follett said: “I have been attending Stevenage Day for many years now and always enjoy myself. It is wonderful that so many people get involved and put on such a great day of entertainment for the entire community. Here’s to another 50 years!”
Ms Follett was joined at the opening ceremony by the new Mayor of Stevenage, Cllr Mick Patston, who attended with the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Deborah Patson, as well as Cllr Sue Myson, the Mayor Designate, and her husband, Mr Dave Myson.
Ms Follett visited a number of stalls, including Stevenage Homes, One Book for Stevenage, the Stevenage Kadoma Link Association and Roebuck Vets.
