The Minister of State for Local Government, John Healey MP, spoke on economic growth in the East of England on Wednesday the 14th of May at 7.30 am at North Hertfordshire College, Monkswood Way, Stevenage. Local business and community leaders met the minister and raised issues of concern with him.

 

Bill Rammell MPThe Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education, Mr Bill Rammell MP discussed the skills challenge in the East of England on Friday 25th January. Other speakers included be Principal of North Hertfordshire College, Mr Fintan Donahue and the Chief Executive of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Mr Tim Hutchings.

 

Ed Balls MPThe Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Ed Balls MP talked about the British economy and the steps the government is taking to encourage business in Britain on Friday 11 May 2007. Other speakers included the Senior Vice-President for Drug Discovery at GSK, Professor Patrick Vallance, who spoke about the company’s work and the Mayor of Stevenage, Councillor Simon Speller who spoke about the One Book for Stevenage Project.

 

John Healey The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, John Healey MP, talked about the Budget in Stevenage on Wednesday 29th March 2007. The Business Breakfast took place from 07:30 – 09:30 on Wednesday 29th March at the Novotel Hotel in Knebworth Park Stevenage.

 

Lord Sainsbury Lord Sainsbury discussed "Science and Innovation" at a business breakfast held on Friday 5th November 2004. Other speakers included Richard Ellis, Chair of the East of England Development Agency (EEDA); Guy Griffiths, MD of MBDA Missile Systems, and Dr Mike Healy, Director of Earth Observation and Navigation at EADS Astrium. This business breakfast was kindly sponsored by EADS Astrium. Proceeds went to Hertfordshire Carers.

 

Gary Titley MEP Gary Titley MEP, the leader of the Labour Group at the European Parliament, spoke on "Making the Most of Europe", at the Novotel Hotel, Knebworth Park, Stevenage, on Friday 21 May 2004. Other speakers at the breakfast included Joyce Quin MP and Beth Kelly (Labour European Parliamentary Candidate).

 

Andrew Millar, Private Secretary from the Department of Trade and Industry, Dr Derek Harris, Chief Executive of the Stevenage Business Initiative, Dr Nick Bowes, Head of the Business Liaison Unit at the Labour Party, and Simon Ash, Business Support Manager for the East of England Development Agency spoke at a breakfast held at Knebworth Barns on November 13 2003. Proceeds went to The Living Room, a Stevenage charity that helps people with substance dependencies and eating disorders.

 

Elliott Morley Elliot Morley MP, Minister for the Environment, spoke at our Business Breakfast, held at the Novotel, Stevenage on Thursday 10 July 2003. Mr Morley met local business people and discussed the role of the environment in the economy. Other speakers at the Breakfast included Nick Parry, Director of Environment at Stevenage Borough Council, Steve Rose, Executive Director of Groundwork Hertfordshire and Sherma Batson and Catherine Campbell from the Stevenage Furniture Recycling Scheme.

 

Dr Denis MacShane MP, Minister of State for Europe was the main speaker at a Business Breakfast on 1 November 2002. The subject of the Business Breakfast was "Europe, Business and the Future". Other speakers included Richard Howitt MEP, Eric Peacock of Business Link Hertfordshire and Kerry McCarthy, Regional Organiser of the East of England in Europe.

Lord Falconer Lord Falconer, Minister for Housing, Planning and Regeneration addressed the business breakfast on Friday 24th May. Other speakers were Valerie Corrigan, Director of Community Services at Stevenage Borough Council, and Charlie Watson, Director of Environment at Hertfordshire County Council.

 

Lord Whitty, Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Lords), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs spoke on the Rural Economy on Friday 8th February 2002.
