The week the world changed
September 2001
This has been a terrible week. As I write , New Yorkers have just finished observing a minute's silence. They were marking the exact moment, seven days ago, when the first plane hit the World Trade Centre Tower. It was one of those awful, life-changing, moments which burn into memory. Like the moment when JFK died...
Spring starts ...
March 2001
Spring came early for me this year. The election of Codicotes first-ever Labour Councillor on February 22nd was as welcome as it was unexpected. I know that Karry Omer was the main reason for our success. I also know that she will be a dedicated councillor who puts the interests of her constituents first. Like the snowdrops which were appearing in my garden at Knebworth it seemed like a good start to what promises to be a politically-packed year...
New year, new challenges
February 2001
Politically, 2001 promises to be an extremely busy and eventful year in Stevenage. A General Election, County Council Elections, a packed Parliamentary Session and now, a District Council by-election in Codicote on February 22nd. It never rains, but it pours.
